Netflix's Ashley Madison Documentary Series Reveals Duggar's Messy Relationship History

Despite endless scandals, Ashley Madison is still in business. But that doesn't mean it doesn't come with baggage. The infamous dating website for people seeking affairs was hacked in 2015 and is now the subject of a new Netflix docu-series, Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal. The documentary explores how the unknown hackers breached the inner workings of the website and leaked the private information of over 30 million users. Yes, over 30 million people were signed up to Ashley Madison looking to cheat on their suppose in secret. Among them was Josh Duggar, the most disgraced member of the religious Duggar Family, known for their reality TV show.

  • The Ashley Madison hack was one of the largest internet hacks in history, according to Global News

Josh Duggar was convicted in 2021 for a heinous crime that will keep him locked up until at least October 2032. Given what Josh was accused and convicted of doing, fans and critics of the family alike were surprised that his wife, Anna, stuck by him. But now, given that his cheating scandal is going to be under the microscope in the new documentary, people are even more curious as to what will happen to their marriage.

According to The Post, the convicted sex offender was forced to come clean about his cheating scandal when hackers revealed that he was one of the 30 million Ashley Madison users. At the time, Josh had to put out a statement, not only addressing being unfaithful to his wife but also touching upon the heinous crime that landed him in prison:

"I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing p*rnography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife. I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain, and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.”

There's More To Jana Duggar Than Meets The Eye, And She's Not Her Parents' Pawn

Jana Duggar is busy living her life, and there are many reasons to believe she's doing exactly what she wants.

Given that the news of Josh's infidelity came to light around the time his crimes became known, they appear to be overlooked. However, since the Ashley Madison documentary on Netflix will explore them specifically, interest in Josh's messy relationship history has increased.

  • Josh and Anna Duggar have 7 kids: Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus, Meredith, Mason, Maryella, and Madyson.

Prior to marrying Anna, Josh only had one other girlfriend, Kaeleigh Holt. She is the daughter of Christian fundamentalists Jim and Bobye Holt. And she dated Josh when the pair were both 14. Based on the little she has said publicly after Josh Duggar's trial, it is unlikely that she knew of Josh's criminal behavior between the ages of 13 - 16. We can't go into detail about his admitted crimes during this age range, but they also involve being unfaithful to Kaeleigh Holt. Although, that may just be the least horrific about what Josh has been accused and convicted of.

The Duggar Show Had Two Writers On Staff, But Does That Mean The Show Was Scripted?

The Duggar family's show wasn't exactly realistic, but it wasn't because writers were feeding everyone scripts.

Kaeleigh Holt, who briefly appeared in the TLC special 16 Children and Moving In (prior to the series 19 Kids and Counting), spoke out about Josh Duggar when he was convicted. According to Ashley's Reality Roundup, Holt never spoke about her relationship with Duggar prior. Instead, she chose to keep things as private as possible.

While she didn't get into any details about their relationship, or if she knew about what he was secretly up to at that time in his life, she did address the fact that her mother testified at his trial. Holt also shared her feelings about the victims of Josh Duggar's abuse:

“My biggest thoughts go out to all the victims. Even though for us it might be a little bit of closure for all of us that are on the outside, but it’s gonna be life long for them, for Josh’s kids.”

There has been no contact between Kaeleigh Holt and Josh Duggar since. At the time of this writing, Josh's wife, Anna, remains loyal to him.
